Contaminant transport in hydrogeologic systems. Technical report 1 Oct 78-31 Mar 81

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5467964
The transportation process of a specific conservative ion species is analogous to transport of heat in the system. Analytical models of hot water injection into groundwater aquifers were developed. Two models were developed to examine the influence of a caprock of finite thickness on the thermal response of an aquifer. A graphical technique was developed to determine four pertinent aquifer thermal properties. The caprock thickness was found to influence aquifer temperature distribution only when the time after injection is long.
