Correlation more accurately predicts two-phase pipeline holdup

Journal Article · · Oil and Gas Journal; (United States)
OSTI ID:5467163

This paper reports that a correlation has been developed that predicts holdup in horizontal or nearly horizontal gas-condensate pipelines to within {plus minus}10%. The correlation can be used to predict peak condensate flow rates from pipelines and thereby help lower costs of two-phase pipeline systems. Tailoring the correlation to other types of pipelines - gas-oil, for example, or highly inclined pipelines - requires only minimal operating data that can either be collected during steady state or transient operation of a pipeline.
