On-site dry fuel storage at Gentilly-1

Gentilly-1 is a 250-MW(e) heavy water moderated boiling light water reactor situated in Gentilly, Quebec, approx. 140 km east of Montreal. The station is currently being decommissioned to a modified storage with surveillance condition. As part of the decommissioning activities, the irradiated fuel discharged from the reactor and stored in the station spent fuel bay is being removed and placed into concrete canisters for dry interim storage until such time as an underground repository is built.
