A study is made of the structure and physicomechanical properties of type KTS sintered carbides produced by cold pressing and subsequent sintering in vacuum at various temperatures. The investigation was made by methods of optical and electron microscopy and local x-ray spectral analysis. The strength of KTS2M3 and KTS2M4 carbides is significantly higher than the strength of KTS2M2 carbide. Investigation of the phase composition of carbide 2M4 alloyed with group II and IV elements, showed high structural and phase homogeneity; the shells of the carbide grains are a solid solution of molybdenum and titanium carbide with a small quantity of nickel.
