Spectral emission analysis of powders in a high-voltage ARC with the sample introduced from a thin tube

The entry of elements was studied with the thin rod into which 1% Co, Be, Al, Ti, Zn, Ta, Mg, or Pb had been incorporated. In order to study the influence of variations in the sample composition upon the entry of the elements to be analyzed, 10-20% of materials with different physical properties went into the sample. Titanium and vandium were selected as the elements to be analyzed. Analysis of the results have shown that some impurities do not affect the entry of titanium and vanadium into the discharge zone of the high-voltage arc, whereas other impurities increase the spread of the points around the average optical density by a factor of 1.5-2.
