Expansion parameter of perturbation theory in intense-field quantum electrodynamics

The asymptotic behavior of electron and photon elastic scattering amplitudes of order ..cap alpha../sup 3/ in an intense constant electromagnetic field are studied. It is shown that the expansion parameter of perturbation theory in intense-field quantum electrodynamics is ..cap alpha..chi/sup 2/3/ when chi >> 1, where chi = ((eF/sub munu/p/sub ..nu../)/sup 2/)/sup 1/2//m/sup 3/ with p/sub ..mu../ the momentum of the particle and F/sub munu/ the electromagnetic field tensor.
