Collisional drift waves, in the linear approximation and for low-{beta} plasmas, are studied in stellarator geometry. A system of three coupled, partial differential equations, describing the perturbed density, electrostatic potential and electron temperature, is derived. This system of equations is solved as an initial-value problem along the magnetic field line. Numerical results for the toroidal heliac H1-National Facility [S. M. Hamberger {ital et al.}, Fusion Technol. {bold 17}, 123 (1990)] are presented. {copyright} {ital 1997 American Institute of Physics.}
