TMI-2 core bore examination results

Examinations are being performed on samples obtained from the lower portion of the TMI-2 reactor core as part of the TMI-2 Sample Acquisition and Examination Program. This paper presents preliminary results of visual examinations, the gamma spectrometry analyses performed on the intact core bores, and the metallurgical examinations. These examinations indicate significant core damage effects on the distribution of core materials and fission products in the lower reactor core including the substantial relocation and segregation of some fission products (e.g., Sb-125 and Ru-106). 5 refs., 14 figs.
