Heat recovery: harnessing fume incineration

Journal Article · · Mod. Ind. Energy; (United States)
OSTI ID:5446712
The means and calculations involved in obtaining the greatest percentage of available energy in a process is discussed. Latent and sensible heat loss are defined and discussed as well as heat-recovery devices used in conjunction with fume incineration equipment. Available energy (energy remaining after subtracting latent and sensible heat losses) is treated as well as calculations of the fuel required for a plant process. A short version of the calculation is presented which agrees with the exact calculation within +- 0.5%. The effect of water in the exhaust stream is also considered. (MJJ)
