Energy Bibliography and Index. Volume 2. [German Documents Retrieval Project at Texas A and M]
This is the second of a four-volume annotated bibliography and index to all energy-related materials in the Texas A and M University Library, regardless of format, data of publication, or issuing source. The EBI includes entries for books, serials, periodical titles, government documents, selected technical reports, conference proceedings and symposia, maps, pamphlets, and brochures. It covers material of all levels of readership - material for the layman as well as for the scientist and engineer. Subjects covered include (but are not limited to): production, utilization, and conservation of all types of fuels - fossil fuels, synthetic fuels, hydrogen, nuclear, etc.; energy storage and conversion; energy policy; alternative energy sources, including wind, solar, geothermal, fusion; power plants and transmission systems; and economic, political, environmental, and statistical aspects of energy-related issues and activities. A special feature of Volume II of the EBI is its coverage of German war documents. During World War II, Germany fueled a substantial portion of her war effort with synthetic liquid fuels manufactured from coal by various processes, including the Bergius process and the Fischer-Tropsch process. Thousands of documents describing that technology were captured, microfilmed, and collected at the close of the war. The German Documents Retrieval Project at Texas A and M is engaged in abstracting documents from that collection and placing the abstracts on a nationwide computer data base, in order to make the information more widely available to the public and to industry than it has been previously. The documents are available from the interlibrary loan system of the Texas A and M University Libraries, College Station, Texas.
