A method of converting specific health risks to present-worth dollar values is presented. The method is aimed at evaluating the costs of hypothetical nuclear reactor accidents. The major risks are adverse health effects and property damage from release of radioactivity. In this method, the probability vs. consequence curves of an NRC Reactor Safety Study are converted to risk vs. consequence curves for various types of effects, including early fatality, early illness, latent cancer, genetic effects, and thyroid nodules.
