An integrated approach for seismic prestack depth migration in complex media

In order to solve the imaging problems in complex media, this article presents an integrated approach of seismic prestack depth migration, which is based on the Kirchhoff`s migration theory and combined with regional geological model. The flow of this approach includes three main parts: (1) seismic data preprocessing, (2) velocity-depth model building , and (3) prestack depth migration and imaging. An example over the complicated structural zone of the ZX Paleozoic buried hill in eastern China is given here; and the result of prestack depth migration, NE206 seismic profile, shows the top and inside of the ZX buried hill and overthrusts more clearly comparing with poststack migration data.
