The proposed classification has been constructed according to the coding principle. Each type of coal is denoted by a three-symbol index. The first figure expresses the degree of coalification, the second the petrographic composition, and the third the degree of oxidation. The classification permits the determination of the methods of utilizing various types of coals of Eastern Siberia and the Kansk-Achinsk basin. Extensive analyzed data are tabulated and evaluated. 10 refs.
