Use of helium-3 as a gas tracer for mesoscale meteorological studies

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/5425099· OSTI ID:5425099
Plans to use /sup 3/He as a tracer in atmospheric diffusion studies are outlined. A specially designed static gas mass spectrometer will be used to measure /sup 3/He//sup 4/He abundance ratios in the atmospheric samples. Analysis of results of previous studies indicate that /sup 3/He can be a useful tracer for plume releases at distances greater than 100 km. (JGB)
