The impact of energy costs and supply prospects on land development practices

Journal Article · · Urban Land; (United States)
OSTI ID:5423576
To ascertain the impact of energy costs and supply on current U.S. real estate developments, the Urban Land Inst. (ULI) and DOE polled ULI members on their perceptions regarding energy conservation in land development. Presented are data on several topics, including: ULI members' perceptions of developers' responses to the energy situation; respondents' perceptions of government energy conservation efforts; and respondents' own activities in regard to energy conservation. Rising energy costs and diminishing energy supplies are having a stronger impact on the micro elements of land development (building design and energy sources used within the structures) than on the macro elements of land development (location and size of the development).
