Design, fabrication, and initial testing of Solar One receiver

The U.S. Department of Energy is actively engaged in the construction of America's first Solar Thermal Electric Power Plant at Barstow, California. Detail design activities were carried out based on the results of preconstruction tests at the Central Receiver Test Facility at Albuquerque, New Mexico. The receiver was shop fabricated, constructed, and successfully checked out.
