Metal-matrix high-temperature superconductor

Journal Article · · Adv. Mater. Proc.; (United States)

A wide array of metal parts containing high-temperature (90 K) superconducting ceramic channels can be fabricated using explosive processing. Aluminum as well as copper has been used as a matrix in experimental superconducting composites. Since the consolidation process does not expose the YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7-y/ ceramic to temperatures above 100/sup 0/C, degradation of superconducting properties does not occur.
