Universal blowout preventers for oil and gas depisits with High H/sub 2/S and CO/sub 2/

This paper describes universal blowout preventers PU1-350 X 35K2 and PU1-180 X 35K2 developed for hermetic capping of well heads to prevent blowouts and uncontrolled flows during drilling and major overhauling of oil and gas wells containing up to 6% each of H/sub 2/S and CO/sub 2/. The blowout preventer was tested for hermetic sealing at pressure 35 MPa in a pipe of diameter 89 mm when using it in a well, and also after removing it from the head. The blowout preventer successfully withstood 15 test cycles. The universal blowout preventer PU1-180 X 35K2 is recommended for series production and has been conferred the superior quality certificate.
