A workshop on terminations for extruded-dielectric cables rated 69 KV and 138 kV identified the principal causes of failure in terminals of domestic manufacture and recommended modifications to deal with them. Major failure modes were fluid leaks, radial dielectric failure at the termination of the cable semicon, and leakage of moisture into the termination. 1 ref., 14 figs.
