Unusual isotope effects for diffusion in VH 0. 50 and VT 0. 50

Journal Article · · Scr. Metall.; (United States)
Nonclassical diffusion processes for hydrogen isotopes in metals and other solids remain interesting and unresolved challenges. Although numerous diffusion measurements have been performed on dilute solutions of hydrogen, deuterium, and tritium in metals, relatively few results are available for diffusion of hydrogen isotopes in the hydride phases formed at higher concentrations. Since diffusion coefficients are generally dependent upon concentration, this disparity is partially due to the difficulty in preparing samples with identical contents. The vanadium hydride phases are promising candidates to study isotopic diffusion.
