Topological and hadronic decays of the tau

A summary of recent measurements of the branching ratio of the tau lepton to one, three and five charged particles plus any number of neutral particles performed by the four LEP experiments is presented. Results of exclusive hadronic branching ratios performed by DELPHI, OPAL and ALEPH are summarized. Limits on missing decay modes'' have been set with the ALEPH data and this is compared to the limits on such modes that can set combining recent results from other experiments. The results quoted in this paper should be considered preliminary unless stated otherwise.
