Legislative prospects. [Questions facing 95th Congress and President]
President Carter and the 95th Congress are faced with a great number of decisions that are important to independent oil and gas producers. The energy policy options being considered by the Federal government can be conveniently categorized in four general issue groups: decisions President Carter must make under existing law; unfinished congressional business; democratic platform content and implications; and Carter's public statements on energy. Specific issues associated with these groups are listed. Specific matters being considered in the area of domestic crude oil pricing are: crude oil price freeze; ten percent escalator; Alaska price decision; natural gas decontrol; divestiture; OCS leasing changes. These issues are discussed in the paper. (MCW)
