Absolute measurements for the collisions systems He[sup 2+]+Li(2s)/Li*(2p) [r arrow] He[sup +](n)+Li[sup +] and Ne[sup 2+]/Ar[sup 2+]+Na(3s)/Na*(3p) [r arrow] Ne[sup +]/Ar[sup +](n,[ell])+Na[sup +] have been performed at low impact energies ([approx]keV/amu) by means of translational energy spectroscopy of charge-exchanged projectile ions, and optical pumping of target atoms with linearly polarized laser light. In the first approximation, the experimental results can be satisfactorily explained from the most probable coupling regions between relevant potential energy curves of the respective collisional quasimolecules.
