Thermodynamics of a nonideal hydrogen plasma

This paper studies a nonideal partially ionized nondegenerate hydrogen plasma. A convergent expression is obtained for the atomic partition function taking into account the effect of the plasma microfields on the electron spectrum of the atom. The concept of the lifetime of an atom in an external electric field is used to describe the effect of a plasma environment on the bound states. Using the method of partial distribution functions, an expression is obtained for the internal energy of the plasma, which is distinguished by a smaller correction for nonideality than the results obtained with the Debye-Huckel theory.
