Observations of the Crab Nebula at 8.0 GHz over the period 1968--1984 show a secular decrease in the flux density at a rate of -0.167% +- 0.015 yr/sup -1/. This observed value is in good quantitative agreement with the rate predicted by a theoretical model for the evolution of the Crab Nebula. We discuss inferences that can be made about the characteristic pulsar slowdown time scales in Crab-like remnants.
