Behavior of liquid /sup 4/He near the superfluid transition in porous glass
Studies have been made on the fraction of superfluid density rho/sub s//rho near the superfluid transition temperature T/sub c/ for liquid /sup 4/He in porous Vycor glass under different pressures. The average value of superfluid exponent zeta obtained is 0.663 +- 0.055 (rho/sub s//rhoapprox.(1-T/T/sub c/)/sup zeta/), which is consistent with the known experimental results and the current theory about critical phenomena. It is confirmed that the liquid helium in porous Vycor glass is three-dimensional in character. No pressure dependence of rho/sub s//rho is found as that in bulk /sup 4/He. However, the results of this experiment are the same as those for /sup 4/He film adsorbed in porous Vycor glass.
