Vortices in rotating superfluid /sup 3/He-A

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
We investigate the properties of rotating /sup 3/He-A in the absence of a magnetic field. For fast rotating /sup 3/He-A (..cap omega..>>..cap omega../sub c/1) we find a transition from the type-I lattice of nonsingular vortex textures discussed by Fujita et al. to a lattice of singular 2..pi.. vortex textures with polar cores at a rotation speed of ..cap omega.. = (h/2m/sub 3/)(3L/sub D/)/sup -2/approx. =32 rad/sec for Tapprox. =T/sub c/. A second transition to a lattice of singular vortices occurs at a much higher rotational speed ..cap omega..approx. =10/sup -1/..cap omega../sub c2/. We also discuss ion mobility and sound attenuation in these vortex textures.
