The economic feasibility of dual purpose nuclear desalination of ground water

Journal Article · · Water Resour. Bull.; (United States)
The economic feasibility of a large-scale dual purpose nuclear facility is examined. The facility would function as a nuclear power plant generating electricity and as a desalting plant for producing fresh water from brackish groundwater. A cost-benefit analysis indicates that the project would not be economically feasible if sited in the arid regions of the southwestern U.S. (1 diagram, 1 map, 11 references, 6 tables)
