The symposium on high temperature synthesis of materials
- Argonne National Lab., IL (United States)
This symposium on High Temperature Synthesis of Materials was organized under the aegis of the Materials Chemistry Secretariat of the American Chemical Society. It deals with the synthesis of thin films, diamond and Group III nitrides, fullerenes and carbon materials, ceramics and catalysts, and polymeric materials. Materials chemistry applies the insights of chemical thermodynamics, kinetics, and quantum mechanics to problems in materials science. Over a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary activities, the fruitful and creative results of this approach are exemplified by the papers presented at this symposium. It is hoped that this will be the first of a continuing series of symposia to acquaint a wider audience with and to provide a forum for presentation of research in materials chemistry. We are fortunate to have assembled a distinguished group of speakers for the plenary session, who will highlight various aspects of the symposium.
