Investigation of the electronic structure of Eu and EuO by the electron spectroscopy method

Journal Article · · Sov. Phys. - Solid State (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5397959
A study was made of the spectra of electrons emitted by Eu, Gd, and EuO as a result of excitation with the Al K/sub ..cap alpha../ x-ray line. The valence band spectra were determined for Eu and EuO and the 4f spectra for Gd; all of them have the same number of the 4f electrons. The differences between these spectra were explained in terms of the electronic structure of the investigated materials. (AIP)
