The problem of photodetachment of a negative ion in a Stark field is treated with the account of rescattering of the electron wave reflected by the potential barrier formed by the electric field. In the case of H{sup {minus}} ions the rescattering effect is noticeable and can be observed for the fields above 1 MV/cm. The upper bound for the observation of the effect is about 4 MV/cm, since above this limit the H{sup {minus}} ions would be completely stripped by the Stark field.
