The PIC model provides a very complete representation of plasma behavior that is essential when investigating phenomena requiring velocity space information such as laser-plasma interactions. New implicit PIC algorithms have expanded considerably in both space and time the scope of problems that may be addressed with this model. Applications of the new code AVANTI, based on our version of the Direct Implicit PIC algorithm, frequently require a relativistic representation of the plasma. We present here a relativistic extension of the plasma representation of this method. 6 refs.
