Wet deposition of pollution-related material (sulfates, nitrates, free hydrogen ions, etc.) was determined at selected stations within the eastern United States (MAP3S and NADP). The ARL-ATAD trajectory model was used to characterize individual precipitation events as to air mass origin. From this information a regional pattern for the deposition of dominant ion species in precipitation was developed. The data analyses suggest that the acid rain phenomenon covers the entire northeast.
