Biological effectiveness of long-term and chronic exposure to radiation as a function of dose rate in various animal species and man
Calculations were made of the coefficient (KB) describing the degree of change in radiobiological effect as a function of radiation dose rate on the basis of literature and the author's own data pertaining to evaluation of changes in median lethal doses, mean survival time of mammals exposed to radiation at different dose rates, as well as on the basis of experimental data referable to the study of formation of effective doses in the course of long-term and chronic irradiation. Determination was made of the patterns of change in radiobiological effect for different animal species and ranges of radiation dose rates. Extrapolation values of KB were obtained for man with exposure to radiation at different dose rates.
