Fermion-non-Abelian monopole system

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:5380359
The fermion-non-Abelian monopole system was investigated, mainly in the limit of a point-like monopole. Particular attention was paid to the charge collective coordinate of the monopole. Including the charge collective coordinate of the monopole, the author solved a model of this system, which has a charge conserving Lagrangian. It was proved that in the point-like limit the charge collective coordinate of the monopole is decoupled from all other quantum fields. This effect restores the charge conservation in the Rubakov-Callan model. In the weak coupling limit, all the fermion Green's functions approach those of Polchinski's fermion-rotor model. A detailed structure of the ground state of the one-flavor massive fermion-monopole system was obtained. The author found a double-degeneracy of the ground state at the vacuum angle theta = +/-..pi../2 if the fermion has Higgs mass.
