Development of catalysts for the hydrocracking of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons

Conference · · Am. Chem. Soc., Div. Fuel Chem., Prepr.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5378336

Hydrocracking experiments made in a 300 cc stirred tank reactor with pure hydrocarbons and catalyst materials yielded information on the kinetics and mechanisms of hydrocracking (hydrogenation, isomerization, and cracking) of naphthalene, anthracene, and pyrene and the activities and selectivities of oxides and sulfides of cobalt, molybdenum, nickel, and tungsten and of different silica-alumina cracking catalysts. The experiments were performed at the University of Utah under partial sponsorship by the U.S. Office of Coal Research.
