A new highly effective inhibitor has been developed, designated IKB-2-2, with improved handling properties. The IKB-2-2 gives 90-98% protection; the inhibitor remains fluid down to -45 C so that it can be used in any area of the country. IKB-2 has been successfully applied in commercial tests in crude oil distillation units, in oil fields and in atmospheric vacuum pipestills. It is recommended that IKB-2-2 be commercially produced for use in oil production operations with the aim of protecting equipment from corrosion in systems for the utilization of wastewater containing hydrogen sulfide. Another inhibitor, IKB-8, has been developed with a solid point of -20 C. The inhibitor has been recommended for use in oil fields. A water-dispersible inhibitor, IKB-4T, is escribed which meets the current requirements of users. An experimental batch of the inhibitor has been tested in oil fields with a favorable results. The above inhibitors have a faint odor, are low in toxicity, and are hazard-rated in Class IV according to GOST.
