This is the fourth report of the Office of the Consumption Data System, Office of Program Development, Energy Information Administration, presenting final data from the National Interim Energy Consumption Survey (NIECS). The focus of this report is the conservation activities performed by households between January 1977 and December 1978, and the status of households with respect to insulation, storm windows, and other energy conserving characteristics. These tables are from the final data file that contains imputations for missing data and includes data from the mailed questionnaires. Included in the report is a summary of findings, a description of how the survey was conducted, a copy of the questionnaire, generalized sampling errors, and a glossary of terms. This report supersedes the preliminary report (DOE/EIA-0193/P) dated August 1, 1979, for most purposes except where the user is interested in the extent of missing data.
