Increase lead susceptibility of a sour coker naphtha stream via caustic treating

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5374714
Toa Oil Company, Ltd. (Toa) relocated a Light Coker Naptha (LCN) treating system and, at the same time, converted their existing Merox unit to a Merichem designed FIBER-FILM treating system. The LCN stream is the light boiling fraction (212/sup 0/F endpoint) of the naphtha stream produced by an Exxon designed Flexicoker. The system maximized the use of existing equipment retrofitted with the FIBER-FILM Contractor to treat a design throughput of 2,000 BPSD of extremely sour LCN from a mercaptan sulfur level of 3,000 ppm wt to less than 15 ppm wt and a product total sulfur reduction of approximately 70%.
