Step size control in ODE solvers
Technical Report

OSTI ID:5371058
General purpose codes which solve the initial value problem for ordinary differential equations vary the step size in some way to produce an accurate solution efficiently. The standard approach is to use the locally optimal step size strategy. We discuss an enhancement of this formulation which leads to substantial savings on problems involving rapidly changing components.
