Elemental composition of barley and ryegrass grown on acid soils amended with scrubber sludge

Journal Article · · J. Environ. Qual.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5366485
A greenhouse study assessed barley and ryegrass growth on two acid soils amended with scrubber sludge from a coal-fired power plant. Soils used were a coarse sand and a silt loam. Heavy metal accumulation of the plants was also considered. Yield reductions are attributed to high concentrations of boron in plant tissues. Tissue selenium increased with added sludge, while magnesium and zinc contents decreased. (21 references, 5 tables)
