Heat and particle fluxes associated with ponderomotive forces in a plasma

The influence of space--time variations in the pumping field on the particle distribution in a plasma is studied and the distribution function is found and used to calculate the hydrodynamic parameters of the plasma. Variations in the external field are shown to induce heat and particle fluxes. The results are illustrated for a pumping field of the soliton type, for which the density of the entrainment current is estimated.
