Ground skidding wetlands with dual-tired skidders: a South Carolina case study

Dual-tyred skidders demonstrated greatly improved trafficability as compared to single-tyred machines. Dual-tyred skidders were able to skid tree-length stems through swampy areas impassable to empty single-tyred skidders. Estimated skidding costs for the dual-tyred skidders were US$1.26/cubic m for an average skid distance of 157 m.
