Ethanol effects on the kinetics of a continuous fermentation with Saccharomyces cerevisiae

The kinetic pattern of product inhibition for the strain S. cerevisiae ATCC No. 4126 was determined experimentally. A three-constant equation was obtained to correlate the growth and ethanol production with respect to the ethanol production. The equation shows that there is a limiting ethanol concentration beyond which the cells could not grow or produce ethanol. (JSR)
