An apparatus for the purification of exhaust gases consists of a first reaction purifier having one or a plurality of undulating conduits. First spray nozzles inject an alkaline solution to react with the exhaust gases. A second serially disposed reaction purifier has a plurality of spaced apart, parallel glass fiber mats with second spray nozzles for jetting a liquid chemical therein, thereby further treating the gases leaving the first reaction purifier and separate exhaust ports for removing liquid from each of the reaction purifiers.
