The orientations of groups of galaxies are examined, and it is shown that, like rich clusters of galaxies, groups exhibit some tendency to be aligned with their neighbors on scales extending to about (15-30)/h Mpc. This would seem to imply that group formation must have occurred after the formation of superclusters; thus, it is argued that the favored cosmogonic scenarios are those in which the formation of structure in the universe proceeds from large to small scales. 43 refs.
