Recently, lots of work has been made on the photochemistry of polymers in an attempt to understand the stability and photodegradability of polymers exposed to light. Irradiation of polymers in the presence of air leads to formation of various oxygen containing groups and carbonyl functions which increase the susceptibility of the polymer to UV light. In the present study, multicomponent blends of polystyrene and photodegradable polymers with vinylketone groups are prepared and the investigation is made on the effect of change in morphology on the photodegradability. SBS type block copolymers are added to change the morphology of the blend and the UV irradiated polymers are analyzed to check any changes in mechanical properties and specific bands in FTIR spectra.
