Journal Article · · Energy Detente; (United States)

With the war in the Middle East over and military forces returning home, petroleum prices have stabilized. Although US refiners are operating on positive margins, the margins are lower year than they have been during the Spring in the last two years. In the US, refiners and their economists are anxiously studying all economic factors that will impact Summer gasoline demand, since it could make or break margins during the next several weeks. This issue focuses on the first 5 months of 1991. This issue also presents the following: (1) the ED Refining Netback Data Series for the US Gulf and West Coasts, Rotterdam, and Singapore as of May 3, 1991; and (2) the ED Fuel Price/Tax Series for countries of the Western Hemisphere, May 1991 Edition. 4 figs., 5 tabs.
