Superadiabatic mechanism for the excitation of MHD shocks in a collisionless plasma

It is shown that deviation from adiabatic motion of fast particles in a plasma leads to collisionless dissipation and shock wave formation. Waves can propagate with irreversible changes of the magnetic field, particle density and other hydrodynamic quantities. (AIP)
