A new concept for horizontal axis wind turbine rotors was developed at the University of Florida. The main feature of this concept is a ''segmented'' blade design using uniform airfoil sections separated by thin aerodynamic fences. The fences allow the individual segments to have different orientations to provide desired twist and pitch. 2 refs.
